Tehran Cinema Museum

There are many valuable and spectacular museums in Tehran. One of these important museums is the Cinema Museum. You can see many valuable works of cinema and old equipment related to art there.
History of Ferdows Garden:
The Tehran Cinema Museum is located in Ferdows Garden in Tehran.
Ferdows Garden was built by order of Mohammad Shah Qajar. It was built in 1264 AH. After his death, some of the construction work of this garden remained unfinished. Finally, during the time of Nasser al-Din Shah, its construction was completed. Then he gave the garden as a wedding gift to his daughter. During the Pahlavi era, this garden and its beautiful and magnificent mansion were used to hold national celebrations and artistic celebrations.
Introduction to the Museum:
This museum has halls that display works left over from the history of Iranian cinema. These cultural and cinematic works show the art and industry of cinema from the beginning to the present day. In this museum, posters, photos, memorabilia and achievements of artists and cinema honors, including cinematic figures such as dubbers and filmmakers, as well as behind the scenes of great films, can be seen. The first equipment of Iranian cinema also attracts the attention of all visitors.
This museum was established in 1994 to preserve the works of Iranian cinema. And in 1998, it was founded by many art lovers such as the late Ezzatollah Entezami and the late Abbas Kiarostami.
Museum halls:
This museum has 9 permanent exhibitions.
- In one of the halls, called the Hall of the Beginners, the first equipment of Iranian cinema is located.
- The next hall is the Sound and Dubbing Hall of the Cinema Museum. In it, you can clearly touch the history of dubbing in Iranian cinema. This is because old equipment related to the art and industry of dubbing and sound recording can be seen there.
- The viewing hall of the Cinema Museum also houses posters and photos of the best-selling films of the 30s and 40s.
- The Contemporary Hall also displays about 700 portraits of the best elements of our country’s cinema.
- The next is the Ali Hatami Hall, where statues and memorials of him appear. This hall is located in the main part of the building, namely its royal residence. The Ferdows Garden Awards Hall, which has displayed the most valuable awards in the history of our country’s cinema from world festivals such as Berlin and Cannes, etc.
- There are also three screening rooms, namely the Ferdows Hall, the Civilization Hall, and the Cinematograph Hall, which host visitors.
In addition to all of these, a statue of the great Iranian scientist Ibn Haytham is located in the Cinema Museum. In his book Al-Manazir, he used the term dark room, which was the beginning of the revolution in photography.

Visit Hours: Sunday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm - Last ticket sales time is 5:15 pm.
- The Cinema Museum is closed on Saturdays and days of mourning.
