Mosque of the Shepherds

Gole Dari Mosque is one of the single-minaret mosques in Iran located in the Qala-e-Shahi (Ozi) neighborhood and is a Sunni mosque in Bandar Abbas.

Introduction:
This mosque was built in 1296 AH.
According to its stone inscription, Gole Dari Mosque was built by Hajj Sheikh Ahmad Gole Dari, a famous merchant of Bandar Abbas, instead of a smaller mosque from the 13th century.
This mosque is built on a surface 1.5 meters high.
Gole Dari Mosque has a courtyard, a nave, a minaret, and a pulpit.
This building has been registered as a historical monument under the number 1595/3.
Currently, part of the courtyard has been roofed for the use of worshipers, and a new part is under construction.

Architecture:
In terms of architecture, this mosque follows the style of the Arab mosques of the Hejaz.
The stone inscription of the building, written in 1338 AH, is placed in a part of the nave.
The large nave of this mosque has 36 columns decorated with stucco.
In the middle of the western side of the building, there is a mihrab about 1.30 meters deep and 4 meters high with beautiful stucco decorations.
In the southern body of this mihrab, there is a compartment for storing books and other objects.
In the northeast corner of the mosque, a spire approximately 8 meters high with a cylindrical design and a minaret has been built on top of it.
In the southeast corner of the courtyard, a pulpit and a stepped spire remain, which are facing ruin.

This historic mosque is built in the southern part of the city and close to the beach and is a short distance from the Bandar Abbas Sea Bus Terminal.
The easiest way to access the Gole Dari Mosque in Bandar Abbas is to take Ayatollah Taleghani Boulevard (Bandar Abbas Coastal Boulevard), enter Danesh Street on the right before reaching Lark Square; continue this street to the end until you reach Imam Khomeini Boulevard; turn right and after about 100 meters you will see the sign for Gole Dari Mosque.
