Pirouz Gate Castle, Chabahar

Chabahar is a region that has many old and historical buildings and castles that have always attracted the attention of tourists. One of these ancient and famous castles of Chabahar, called Pirouz Gat Castle, is located in the historical village of Tis.

Introduction:
Pirouz Gat Castle is located on a hill in the upper and middle of the Tis Valley.

The appearance of the building is similar to the buildings of the Parthian era.
Gat in the Balochi language means chief and great general, and its placement next to the name Pirouz suggests that this name is derived from the name Pirouz Sassanid. This increases the possibility that the building is Sassanid.

Architecture:
The hill on which Pirouz Gat Castle is located is about 1.5 to 2 times higher than other heights in the Tis Valley.
This hill is made of sedimentary and limestone rocks.
In this building, traces of mortar, rubble, and large stone walls can be seen, but most of the castle walls have unfortunately been destroyed.
Considering that the stones used in the castle’s construction are not identical to the stones found on the hill, it seems that the stones used to build the castle were brought there from another place.
The thickness of the castle walls is reported to be between 2.5 and 4 meters, and the height of some of them is up to 12 meters.
Parallel to the main walls of Pirouz Gat Fort, walls with a distance of 8 meters and with a smaller thickness can be seen.
Remains of towers can be seen on the northern and southern sides of the castle.
This castle has an earring, which is considered the tallest part of the castle and has complete nobility around it.
Two 3×2 meter rooms for observation are also located on the earring of the castle.
In the eastern and western corners of the castle courtyard, there are high stone platforms that were used as places for gatherings, worship or gatherings of the castle residents.
Traces of broken walls and stones, plaster, mortar and pottery shards can be seen on the terrace, which are related to facilities such as a guardhouse, watch house, protection house and water tank.
There are also traces of residence around the castle, which were probably the residence of the families of the castle officials or clans.
Traces of a 3-meter-wide ditch can be seen around the castle.
