Baba Taher Tomb, Khorramabad

Baba Taher Tomb is one of the historical monuments of Khorramabad city, dating back to the Safavid era.

Introduction:
· Baba Taher Tomb of Khorramabad is located on the western side of Falak-ol-Aflak Castle and also next to the historical house of Akhund Abu in the city center.

· This monument belongs to Baba Taher the mystic and poet of famous couplets in Laki and Lori languages.

· Some people consider this person to be Baba Taher Aryan Hamedani due to the similarity of names, which is not true. (Click here for more information about Baba Taher Aryan Tomb in Hamedan)

· In recent years, a wooden inscription was found inside this tomb, on which the family tree of the buried person was written with the title “Baba Taher” and in verses.

· The title “Baba” was used in Lorestan for mystics and those who were righteous.

· This tomb was registered in the National Monuments of Iran in 2005.

Architecture:
· The building of Baba Taher’s tomb dates back to the Khorezmshahi period.

· The tomb consists of a simple dome and an entrance, and its walls consist of eight sides.

· The four main sides are 250 cm and the secondary sides are 170 cm in size.

· The height of the dome from the ground floor is 6 meters.

· Baba Taher’s grave is located inside the crypt and its dimensions are 52100172 cm.

· There used to be a wooden altar on the tomb, which has disappeared over time.

· The only decoration used in this building is the latticed brickwork at the entrance door.

· In modern times, a small room measuring 2.5*5 meters was added to the western body of the building, which is called the Qalandar Khaneh.
