Khorramabad Grand Mosque

The Grand Mosque of Khorramabad is the first mosque mentioned in the history of Lorestan and dates back to the era of the Atabkans of Lor.

Introduction:

The Grand Mosque of Khorramabad was built in 970 AH by order of Shah Parvar Sultan, daughter of Aghor Beg (wife of Shah Rostam of the Atabkans of Lor).

The mosque was renovated in 1110 AH by order of Shah Sultan Hussein Safavi.
The inscription related to this decree is kept in the historical part of the Shapur Khast Fortress.
This mosque was renovated twice more by Khodai Khan Hasanvand and Mola Mohammad Taqi Khorramabadi.
Part of the mosque building was destroyed due to street construction for half a century, and the new mosque building was built on these ruins.

In 1332 AH, some residents of the area renovated the mosque and built rooms to the north and south of it, which were converted into a seminary.
The mosque building has a pillared nave covered with a dome and arch.
The dimensions of the nave are 9 x 30 meters and it has 7 quadrangular columns with a porch on its eastern side.
