Marco Ramsar Castle

Marco Ramsar Castle is one of the historical attractions of this city, located in the westernmost point of Mazandaran province.
Introduction:
Marco Ramsar Castle is located on a mountain of the same name, which offers a 360-degree view of the sea, mountains, and lush plains.
This castle used to have an area of 600 square meters and was used for military purposes in the past.
The materials used in its construction are mainly stone, plaster, and mortar.
There is no exact information about the time of construction, but according to historians, it can be considered to be related to the third century AH.
Currently, only three guard towers and four side fences remain.
One of these rooms has been renovated to accommodate the castle guards.
There is a tunnel inside the castle that was used as a cellar in the past and was dug to provide water.
The castle is located at an altitude of 260 meters above sea level, and about 311 steps must be taken to reach it.
The name of this castle, which is taken from a mountain of the same name, goes back to the Mard tribe who once lived on this mountain and has gradually been shortened to Marco.
Visiting this castle in each season has its own unique beauty.
This castle was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran on March 15, 1379.
Other tourist attractions such as the forests of Do Hezar, Se Hezar, Dalkhani and the village of Javaherdeh are close to this area.
