Bibi Qeshm

Bibi Reservoir is one of the historical attractions of Qeshm Island. This reservoir is located in the Shahab district of Qeshm Island. Reservoirs were built to provide water for people in tropical areas. The 200-year-old Bibi Reservoir in Qeshm has a very interesting architecture that is worth visiting.

History:
Bibi Reservoir was built in 1202 AH.
This reservoir was built by a charitable lady named “Sugheya”. She was the wife of the ruler of Qeshm Island at the time, Sheikh Abdullah.
The roof of this building has been repaired and rebuilt many times.
Despite the 200-year-old age of this building, the reservoir is still used by the local people.

Bibi Reservoir is a type of pond reservoir.
This reservoir is considered the first pond reservoir on Qeshm Island.
This reservoir is also known as Bibi Reservoir among the locals.
Water tanks are traditional structures built to provide water for people.
Dome water tanks are reserved for hot and humid regions.
Water tanks in Hormozgan province are often dome-shaped with several hatches around them to provide water.
The height of the water tank is also lower than the ground level.
The materials used in the Bibi water tank include brick, stone, lime, shafta and mortar.
The Shahab region, where the Bibi water tank is located, is very green and spectacular in the fall and winter due to more rainfall.
