Ship history:
Over the years, this ship changed hands between different owners, including Iranian and English.
Over the years, it also had different names.
These names were Empire Trumpet, Naturalist, Cyrus the Persian, and Hamedan, respectively.
Finally, after sailing almost the entire world, it was given to a Greek person who named it Kola F.
But in Iran, it became known as the Greek ship because of its Greek owner.
Until on the 4th of Mordad 1966, it ran aground near the village of Baghu, Kish.
After this incident, the crew abandoned the ship and its cargo was also unloaded.
Despite many attempts by tugboats to pull it out, there was no result.
Causes of the ship’s running aground:
The exact cause of the Greek ship’s running aground is not known, but different stories have been told about it.
Due to the foggy weather, the ship mistakenly came to the shore and ran aground.
The captain of the ship was operating it while drunk and did not notice it moving towards the shore.
During his previous trips to Kish Island, the ship’s captain fell in love with a girl from the village of Baghu named Maryam.
Because Maryam’s family opposed their marriage, the captain promised her that he would follow her on his ship one summer night.
But this unfortunate incident occurred and the two lovers never got together.
The locals attribute this story to a lonely woman named Mesh Maryam, who lives in the village of Baghu.
She comes to the beach every summer night and stares at the sea for hours.
But the main reason given for this is that the owner of the ship was going bankrupt.
In coordination with the captain, they deliberately run the ship aground on the beach.
In this way, they receive a significant amount of compensation from the English insurance company.
Due to the great deterioration of the Greek ship and the pollution it causes to aquatic organisms due to its rust, we may not be able to visit it in the coming years. So if you travel to Kish, be sure to visit the Greek ship with its unique beach.
There is also a beach park with several restaurants there, which also offers entertainment such as camel riding and cycling.
In addition, you can get acquainted with other tourist attractions in Kish on an easy tour.
