Museum sections:
The Azerbaijan Museum consists of three sections: archaeology, anthropology and constitutional history.
More than 12,000 objects in the Azerbaijan Museum Tabriz were obtained from excavations in Moshlan, Hassanloo, Qara Tepe, Khosrow Shah and Marlik. Some of these objects date back to 4,000 BC.
The ground floor of the museum belongs to prehistoric and pre-Islamic works. Some of the works in this floor, such as the pottery from Ismail Abad Hill, are more than 7,000 years old. Serpentine minerals from Jiroft, Kerman, also belong to the pre-Islamic era. Bodies from the first millennium BC are also found in this floor. The three-thousand-year-old statue of the female goddess of Rustam Abad, which shows the value of women in ancient Iran, is one of the interesting objects in this museum.
On the first floor of the museum, there are ancient artifacts and works of the Neyshabur civilization dating back to the fourth century AH. The works in this section date back to the Qajar era. Among these works, we can mention a code lock dating back to the late sixth century AH and pottery from the Ilkhanid period. Works from the Islamic period, seals from different Islamic periods, and a treasure trove of coins are also located on this floor.
In the anthropology section, the way of life and customs of people in different parts of the country are exhibited. This section, which is located on the lower floor, is dedicated to the sculptures of Mr. Ahad Hosseini. These very beautiful sculptures have exhibited human life throughout history, especially in the twentieth century.
A new section has also been operating since 2007, consisting of historical tombstones, stone figures (related to various historical events), and stone inscriptions.
