Kharbs Cave, Qeshm

Kharbes Cave is one of the natural attractions of Qeshm Island. This cave is located 15 kilometers south of the island and in the heights of Kharbes village. This strange cave holds many mysteries from the distant past. In this cave, magnificent works of different civilizations can be seen. These are the reasons why many tourists visit this place every year.

Introduction:
Kharbes Cave is located in the south of Qeshm and on the right side of the road from Kharbes village to Ramchah village.
According to geologists, this cave is considered one of the amazing phenomena of the geological era.
This cave is one of the traces of the folds of the Zagros mountain range and is considered a kind of connection between the mountain and the sea.

History:
The age of Kharbes Cave dates back to the Median period.
This cave has appeared in the form of a mountain with nested holes due to the subsidence of sea water.
Over time, this cave has undergone many changes. People have also carved carvings on its walls in the past.
There are various stories about this cave from the past that indicate its religious use:
Some say that during the Median period, this cave was used as a temple for Mehr and the goddess Mithra. Its halls were also used as a place to hold ceremonies to commemorate the dead.
Some believe that Zoroastrians used this cave as a mortuary temple. In this religion, a mortuary temple is a place where the bones of the dead were kept.
Another theory states that the Kharabs Cave was a refuge for women, children, and the elderly during pirate attacks. For this reason, holes were dug for hiding places and storing food. Also, soldiers took shelter inside it during war.

Features:
The architecture inside and outside the cave has a mysterious and strange shape and is surrounded by coral hills.
The height of the rock walls of this cave reaches 20 to 30 meters.
The overall structure of the cave is reminiscent of the catacombs of the provinces of Kurdistan, Lorestan and Azerbaijan.
Its entrance consists of 9 openings. Behind these openings is a hall with two small niches.
Inside this cave, there are numerous halls, rooms, corridors and openings that are connected to each other.
Passing through these nested openings inside the cave is reminiscent of playing a labyrinth.
At the bottom of the cave mouth, there is a pond that was used to store rainwater.
Some locals say that a pair of ospreys live and lay eggs in the heights of this cave.
This eagle is considered a rare and valuable species in the world.
Mouse-tailed bats live in the lower holes and in the dark corners of the cave.
This species of bats is endangered, but they are safe in the Kharabs Cave.
Other information:
Visit hours are from 6 am to 8 pm.
Facilities such as souvenir shops, buffets and snacks, and restrooms are provided in the complex for the comfort of tourists.
