Imamzadeh Yasser and Nasser

Imamzadeh Yasser and Nasser is located 5 kilometers west of Mashhad in the village of Golestan.
Introduction:
- This shrine is considered the second most popular pilgrimage site in Mashhad after the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).
- These Imamzadehs are considered to be the descendants of Imam Musa ibn Jafar (AS).
- With the migration of Imam Reza (AS) to Khorasan, they also migrated to this region.
- Every year, about three million pilgrims visit this shrine.
- About 20 percent of them are foreign tourists.
- Most of these foreign tourists are from Kuwait, Iraq, and other Arab countries on the Persian Gulf.
History and Features:
- Before 1342, the shrine was limited to two clay tombs.
- But this year, with the efforts of donors, it was transformed into a small local mosque with two green shrines.
- Until a Kuwaiti benefactor visits the shrines of the Imams and makes a vow to fulfill his needs.
- This person soon needs it, and this incident causes him to decide to make this shrine prosperous.
- He bears all the costs of building and installing a shrine for these two Imams.
- This renovation is carried out in 2003.
- The older locals know these two Imams as Sayyid Nasser and Sayyid Baser.
- The same names are also engraved on the old inscriptions of the building.
- For example, on the inscription above the shrine, a poem begins with the line “Naser, your light became radiant, Baser, your remembrance became enduring.”
- However, during research conducted in the last two decades based on historical documents, the names of these two great men, Sayyid Nasser and Sayyid Asr, have been mentioned.
- According to the inscriptions on the tiles of the building’s facade, this building was tiled in three stages.
- For example, an inscription in Nastaliq script reads:
“O Allah, this house of honor of the respected Aghazadehs, Agha Seyyed Nasser and Agha Seyyed Basir, the sons of Imam Musa ibn Jafar (AS), was renovated with the efforts of a group of well-wishing believers and was completed on 02/08/36”. - The shrine of Imamzadeh Yasser Nasser currently has an area of about a thousand square meters.
- However, the comprehensive development plan for the shrine began in 2013 and is currently being implemented.
- According to this plan, seven hectares of land around the shrine have been purchased by donors.
- These lands will be allocated, based on plans, for the development of a nightstand, green space, a pilgrimage center, a dining hall, a digital library, and so on.
