Kish Twin Reservoir

Twin Reservoir of Kish
The Twin Reservoir of Kish is also known as Two Domes and Five Windcatchers. This reservoir is located in the north of Kish Island. Watching this reservoir reminds the viewer of the architecture of Yazd city. Because these types of reservoirs were mostly built in desert cities in ancient times.
Reservoir – Kish
History:
The Twin Reservoir of Kish was built in 1372 and was located on the remains of an ancient reservoir.
Of course, the building that currently exists is related to the contemporary reservoir.
Its architecture is also inspired by the architectural patterns of Yazd.
Despite the high humidity of Kish Island, the rainfall is low.
Therefore, in the past, the people of Kish Island needed to build places to collect and cool rainwater and surface water to provide drinking water.
But as time passed and life became more modern, many constructions were carried out on Kish Island.
This issue caused the Kish Twin Reservoir to lose its use.
So that it is currently only a historical attraction and has no use for water supply.
Kish Twin Reservoir
Architecture:
The Kish Twin Reservoir building consists of two domes and five wind catcher that were used to cool the water and the environment.
The way this building works is that air enters from one side and is then transferred to the lower part.
In this part, the air hits the water and cools it.
Then it exits from the other side of the tower.
There are also openings in the upper part of the reservoir entrance.
These openings have helped to balance the air inside it, especially in the summer season.
In the past, when there was water inside the reservoir, the air inside it was very cool.
But now, due to the lack of water, it feels less cool.
Also, the presence of cactus species around this reservoir has doubled its visual beauty.
You can visit the twin reservoirs of Kish by visiting the Green Tree and the ancient city of Harireh in one day. Because these places of interest are located near each other.
