Masoudieh Mansion, Tehran

The Masoudieh Mansion in Tehran is one of the most beautiful and historical buildings with unique architecture in the city. This building dates back to the Qajar period and was built by the order of the son of Naser al-Din Shah.

History:

  • The beautiful and historical building of the Masoudieh Mansion was built in 1295 by the order of Masoud Mirza, nicknamed Zil Sultan, the son of Naser al-Din Shah.
  • The garden clock of the Masoudieh Mansion is about 4 thousand meters.
  • This building is part of several buildings built in the Negarestan Garden.
  • The beautiful Masoudieh Mansion has witnessed many historical events in the modern century.
  • During the Constitutional Revolution, due to the proximity of this building to Baharestan Square and also due to the differences between Zil Sultan with his brother Mozaffar al-Din Shah and his son, this building became one of the bases of the constitutionalists and opponents of Mohammad Ali Shah.
  • Also, in 1287, a bomb exploded near this building under Mohammad Ali Shah’s carriage.
  • This gave him an excuse to bomb the parliament.
  • After that, he bombed the Masoudieh Mansion and the house of Zahir-od-Dowleh and other constitutionalists.
  • This mansion was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran on January 17, 1998.

Architecture:
The architecture of the Masoudieh Mansion in Tehran, this beautiful and magnificent building is a combination of Iranian and cultural architecture. The architect of this building is Master Shaban Memar Bashi.

This building includes:

  • Two exterior and interior sections
  • It has 5 buildings such as the Moshir-od-Dowleh Mansion, the Divan Khaneh Mansion, the Sardar Mansion, the Seyyed Javadi Mansion, the Sofreh Khaneh and the Hoz Khaneh
  • Various arts such as tiling, plastering, calligraphy, murals and exquisite decorations on the walls
  • and 7 inscriptions

Current status:

  • In the fall, the persimmon trees of this garden, whose branches are bent downwards due to the weight of the persimmons, create a beautiful view.
  • All the floors are paved.
  • In one of the rooms of this building, the first official library of the country was formed in 1304 AH by the Education Association.
  • Also, valuable and precious objects and antiques are kept in one of the other rooms.
  • In this way, the first museum of Iran was also created. But in 1318, the expensive and antique objects of this museum were transferred to the first National Museum of Iran.
  • The Masoudieh recreational area has cafes called Masoudieh Cafe. You can relax there and drink tea in cups with rose saucers.
  • There is also a photography studio and an exhibition there.
