Another remaining monument related to the Zoroastrian religion is the Yazdan Shaghefat Cave in Yazd, located on Mount Shaghefat or Ashkeft.
This mountain is located near Aqda, a district of Yazd city, 130 kilometers from Yazd.
Due to the large opening that the cave has in the heart of the mountain and is visible from afar, this cave was called Shaghefat or Ashkeft, meaning a gap.
This cave was the place where the sacred fire was kept and a place of worship for Zoroastrians.
This beautiful cave stands out magnificently in the heights of Ashkeft and attracts many tourists.
Every year, a large number of Indian Zoroastrians travel to this cave and spend a night there.
Shaghefat Cave is actually a natural attraction, but due to the human activities that have been carried out in this cave since ancient times, it is also considered a type of historical attraction.
This cave was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran in 2019.
History:
The formation of Shaghefat Cave in Yazd is considered to be related to the fourth geological period.
In the 9th century AH, at the beginning of the Muslim arrival in Iran, Zoroastrians chose this cave to preserve and preserve the sacred fire of the Karians due to its impassability.
This fire was related to a fire temple called Nahid, which was transferred to Aqda. Then it was transferred to Turkabad in Ardakan and then to Ashkeft Cave.
The sacred fire was kept in this cave for 30 years.
In 1325, this fire was transferred to Yazd and is now still burning in the Bahram Fire Temple in Yazd.
Of course, traces of past habitation can be seen in this cave.

There are three handmade pools in this cave where water dripping from the ceiling used to collect.

One of them is 3 meters 80 centimeters high and the other two are about 1 meter high.

Ashqaft Cave is located 45 kilometers from Aqda in Ardakan County, near the village of Haftar in Yazd Province.
The access route to the cave is a bit difficult and the entire route is not accessible by car, and to reach the entrance of the cave, you have to walk for about two hours through difficult rocks that are also relatively steep.
