History:
The building of this museum was built nearly 80 years ago by a philanthropist named Haj Akbar Sanatizadeh as an orphanage for orphaned children.
In 1961, a library was built by Abdolhossein Sanatizadeh, the son of the late Haj Akbar, to the left of the entrance to the orphanage. During the reconstruction of the museum, this library was also restored and now serves as a specialized library of art resources for those interested in art and research. This library has 15,700 volumes of specialized art books and has 300 active members.
In 1977, this place was converted into a museum to store and display the works of Seyyed Ali Akbar the artist and the works of other artists from Iran and the world.
About half of the museum’s current works belong to Ali Akbar Sanati, and the rest belong to other contemporary Iranian and foreign artists.
Other works in the museum belong to more than 83 contemporary Iranian artists and 16 foreign artists.
