Khorramabad Qaw Lake

The natural lake of Qaw is one of the recreational places of Khorramabad, located in the northwest of the city.

Introduction:
Khorramabad Qaw Lake has an area of ​​7 hectares and a depth of between 3 and 7 meters.
This lake originates from the springs in the Khemmal Kooh, the Golestan spring, and the springs at the bottom of the lake, and its water is supplied.
Lake Qaw is a suitable habitat for aquatic animals, native and migratory birds.
The most famous of them are egrets – a special type of stork.
Qaw in the Lori language means blue-green.
The reason for using this name for the lake is its clear and deep water.
The presence of recreational facilities such as an amusement park and the beautiful landscape of this lake have made it a tourist attraction.
Khorramabad Qaw Lake
History:
Before 1975, the “Sarab Qaw” spring was located in the current location of this lake, which is still the main source of water for the lake.
The construction of the lake was carried out in 1975 and 1976 by order of Ali Mohammad Saki, the then mayor.
Measures such as standardizing the lake, building a guesthouse, and constructing recreational and leisure facilities were also carried out during these years.
In recent years, measures such as preserving the lake’s water supply, installing lights, repairing fences, and creating fountains and water features have been taken.
